Banners hung in defiance of election code removed

Local administration of Rajbiraj has started removing campaign banners and posters carrying election symbol of candidates and political parties from the public place hung in defiance of the election code of conduct.

Elections candidates from various political parties and independent had covered the entire monument at Gajendra Chowk in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari, with hundreds of campaign flags, posters, pamphlets and banners.

The district Chief Election Officer Harish Chandra Dhungana, Chief District Officer (CDO) Bhagirath Pandey, Nepal Police SP Mukesh Kumar Singh and Armed Police Force SP Ramadhar Yadav, with the help of security personnel, removed the banners from the public place, and urged the election candidates not to violate election code.

On Wednesday, security personnel had removed pamphlets and banners hung across the streets in various places of Rajbiraj.

SP Singh said that they were working to remove all such illegally pasted posters from inner settlements of the district headquarters. He further said that instruction has been given to local police units in remote places to remove banners placed against election code of conduct.

The election candidates in the district are found using children for their campaign programme while conducting their mass assemblies at public places like school, and temple.

CDO Pandey expressed sadness over the violation of election code by candidates in spite of their commitment desist from such activities.
