ICC WCLD II: Nepal concede a six-wicket defeat to Oman

Nepal conceded a six wicket defeat to their Oman counterparts in their second match of the ongoing ICC WCLD II played at the Windhoek, in Namabia, on Friday.

After winning the toss, Oman invited Nepal to bat first and restricted Nepal to 138 runs in 46 overs in their allotted 50 overs.
Chasing the target of 139 runs, Oman wrapped up the inning in 35.1 overs by losing four wickets.

Omani batsman Abiq Ilyas scored highest 46 runs including five boundaries.

Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal took two wickets while Basanta Regmi and Sompal Kami claimed one wicket each.

Sharad Veswakar scored highest 22 runs for Nepal while Kaleemullah of Oman claimed four wickets.

ICC WCLD II: Nepal post 139 runs target to Oman in their second encounter

Nepal posted a paltry 138 runs target to Oman in their second encounter of the ongoing ICC WCLD II played at the Windhoek, in Namabia, on Friday.

Oman opted to field first after winning the toss and restricted Nepal to 138 runs in 46 overs in their allotted 50 overs. 

Nepal's poor form with the bat continued as the openers failed to muster any formidable partnership as they lost their first wicket after adding 10 runs on the board.

Oman drew the first blood after Nepal's vice-captain Gyandendra Malla nicked a faint edge to the wicket keeper off Kaleemullah’s delivery in the 4.6 overs.

Malla trudged off after scoring a painstaking 7 runs in 17 balls with a solitary hit to the fence.

Dilip Nath and Skipper Paras Khadka combined for 28 runs partnership for the second wicket to give momentum to the innings, before Nath fell while trying to up-the-ante caught by Odedra off Faiz Bhutta’s delivery in the mid wicket region.

He hit 19 runs off 49 balls, studded with three fours including a scorching back foot drive to the off side and a short arm jab over midwicket.

Oman's Kaleemullah took two quick wickets off Aarif Sheikh and skipper Paras Khadka and pegged back Nepal to 56/4 in 22.1 overs.

Kaleemullah forced a nick off Sheikh's bat to wicketkeeper Sultan before serving a pitch off a delivery to skipper khadka which nipped back after pitching in the line to evade his defence to rattle the stumps.

Khadka contributed 17 runs off 42 balls with a four.

After reeling at 56/4 in the 22.1 overs senior batsman Sarad Vesawkar and rookie batsman Dipendra Singh Airee combined for 36 runs for the 5th wicket to move the scoreboard ticking to 92 runs before Airee threw away his wicket to Bilal Khan.

He was caught by Zeeshan Maqaood at the mid wicket region off Bilal Khan after smashing 20 off 32 balls which included three fours.

 Yesterday's man-of-the-match Basanta Regmi failed to reproduce his yesterday's heroic with the bat fell cheaply after being trapped leg before th wicket leaving Nepal reeling at 96/6 in 31.3 overs.

Sarad Veswakar top scored for Nepal with 22 runs off 39 balls with two fours.

Nepal kept losing wickets at a regular interval as Oman's bowlers bowled in temdem to temdem to exert pressure to Nepali batsmen.

Kaleemullah was pick of the Oman bowler with 10-2-28-4. Fiaz Bhutta, Bilal Khan, Khawar Ali and JA Odedra took a wicket each.

Earlier on Thursday, Nepal pulled off a sensational victory in their opening match of the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 edging the hosts by one wicket in a last over thriller at the Affies Park in Windhoek on Thursday. Oman had lost to Canada by eight wickets.
