Man sustains critical injuries in Chitwan acid attack

In yet another incident, an unknown person threw acid at a man in Bharatpur on Monday, leaving his seriously injured. Birman Maharjan, 35, of Bharapur Metropolitan City-2, sustained critical burn injuries after he was attacked with acid at around 3 am on Monday.

DSP at Chitwan District Police Office, Prabhu Prasad Dhakal said 30-year-old Sujit Kumar BK, a native of Nalang-4 in Dhading district, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in throwing acid at Maharajan.

Police said the reason behind the acid attack on Birman has not been known yet.  He has been undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College. He is said to be in critical condition.

This is the second incident of accident attack in less than three weeks. A police sub-inspector had hurled acid over a woman on April 22. He has been detained at police custody for investigation.
