Stock traders on Tuesday continued their protest and halted all transactions on the floor of the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) in protest against the government’s decision to revise the capital gains tax threshold on the sale of bonus and rights shares.
The investors did not buy or sell any shares that halted all trade despite Nepse opening up for business.
The investors have intensified their protest after talks with the Ministry of Finance ended inconclusively. The traders today have organised a gherao outside the Nepse and Securities Board of Nepal premises to express their dissatisfaction at the government’s move.
Meanwhile, various investor associations have issued statement urging investors and broker companies not to trade shares on Tuesday and facilitate them in the ongoing protests.Published: 2018-06-05 13:26:28
