National Resident Doctors’ Association (NRDA), Naya Shakti Party Nepal (NSPN), and Nepal Students Union (NSU) on Tuesday staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala demanding the government address the demands of Dr Govinda KC.
Doctors associated with National Resident Doctors’ Association also picketed the Ministry of Health and Population. Earlier on Monday, the doctors aligned Nepal Medical Association threatened to shut down all the hospital services except emergency from Thursday if the government failed to address Dr Govinda KC’s demands within 48 hours.
Dr KC has been staging fast-unto-death in Jumla since June 30 demanding reforms in medical education and health sectors.
The government on Monday formed a three-member talks team to address Dr KC’s demands 17 days after he started his indefinite hunger strike in Jumla.
Talks between representatives of Dr KC and government talks team, however, is yet to take place.
