An injured couple trapped by landslide that occurred at Bigu Rural Municipality in Dolakha district on Tuesday has been rescued by helicopter on Wednesday.
A Nepal Army helicopter was mobilised to rescue Shyam Bahadur Shrestha and his spouse Dal Maya Shrestha, residents of Bulungkhani at Bigu Rural Municipality in the district, from their house that got trapped following a landslide which occurred around the settlement. The Shrestha couple have been airlifted to Kathmandu.
Likewise, the landslide has also buried over a dozen houses in northern areas including Bigu and Gauri Shanker Rural Municipalities.
Rescuers could not reach the incident site on foot as the landslide debris had blocked the way and the army chopper had to be called for rescue operation, informed Chief District Officer Sagar Mani Pathak.
Similarly, CDO Pathako informed that a police team has reached the landslide site and are conducting rescue works and taking stock of the damages.
