Govt will fall in 2-3 weeks: Bhandari
Aug 26, 2012-
CPN-UML Vice Chairperson Bidya Bhandari claimed that the government would fall itself within the next two-three weeks even if the prime minister did not quit himself.
“We will wait for a couple of days for a national consensus government,” said Bhandari, addressing a gathering of the UML-aligned All Nepal Women’s Association in Lahan on Sunday. “The government won’t be able to withstand the tempest of our agitation. It will topple within two or three weeks, if it tires to pose obstruction,” she added.
Bhandari said the nation’s politics have divided between the leftist-democratic alliance comprising Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the authoritarian front led by the UCPN (Maoist).
At a press conference prior to the women’s gathering, the UML vice chairperson alleged that U (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been trying to divide the nation’s politics through the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FERA). She ruled out the possibility of talks with the alliance unless the alliance was dissolved.
In response to the journalists’ query, Bhandari accused the Maoists of trying to separate the people along the ethnic and geographical lines in the name of federalism. She question, “How could it be possible to federate the country in this manner?”
She further said that U (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been trying to impose the Maoist-constitution. “The country will plunge into further anarchic state if we follow Prachanda [Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal],” she added.
Saying that certain landlords, in the name of people, have been trying to re-introduce the system of feudal lords in the Tarai region, Bhandari called on the Madhesi leaders not to follow such leaders.
