Elias fires Manang into Kings Cup final

Yona Elias’s treble powered Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) to a 6-2 extra time win over United Sikkim to book their place in the final of the King’s Cup Football Tournament on Thursday.

Bhim Darlami opened the scoring for MMC  in the first minute. Captain Sujal Shrestha doubled MMC’s lead in the 51st minute.

MMC looked set to ease past United Sikkim after attaining a two goal cushion but were given a setback when Bijendra brought Sikkim back in the game with his goal in the 62nd minute. Thubden equalized for Sikkim in the 91st minute to take the game into extra time.

Yona Elias broke the deadlock in the 100th minute to put MMC 3-2. Sulav Maskey then netted his first goal of the tournament seven minutes later to restore Manang’s two goal lead. Elias scored twice in the next twenty minutes to secure MMC’s place in the final.
