President Ram Baran Yadav unveiled a book “Ma Pani Doctor” (I am also a doctor) penned by cardiologist Dr Om Murti Anil amidst a function in the Capital on Saturday.
The book, targeted at all the general public, sheds light on various diseases and prevention methods and also given an idea how to keep our heart healthy, among other things.
Speaking at the book launching event, Yadav said this book may help people maintain a healthy life and understand diseases.
Dr Anil, a cardiologist of the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre (MCVTC), said those who visit hospitals on a daily basis and whose ailments could be easily treated through small preventive measures were the main force behind writing the book. “I have tried to make it simple, precise and scientific.”
Similarly, Dr Bhagwan Koirala, executive director of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, said the book will help people prevent various diseases.
“This is the kind of a book that needs to be in each household,” said Dr Koirala. “Also, this would be a reference book for high schools too.”
The first edition of the book will be distributed by the Centre for Heart Attack Awareness in Nepal (Chain), an NGO. Chain has also created a trust worth Rs 500,000 whose funds will be used to help poor patients get treatment at the MCVTC.
