Kellee Maize for a cause

The American rapper and hip-hop artist, who is world-renowned for her music, is performing for a fund-raising event the proceeds of which will support the education of children of Nepali migrant workers who have died abroad.
"We all have the power to have a positive effect on the world by 'being the change we wish to see'," states Maize as she speaks of her decision to headline the charity event. The January 11 concert will not only provide educational opportunities to orphaned children but also help create awareness on the plight of Nepali migrant labourers in Qatar and other gulf nations.
The concert is an initiative brought about by COMMITTED (Community Members Interested) and has been presented by Capital Grill and We Fear Silence (WFS). While Maize's New Year's Eve performance at Meconopsis—also organised by WFS—was a glitzy glamorous gala, with great music, overflowing glasses and New Year revellers partying the night away, her concert at the Basantapur Durbar Square will see the artist sharing the stage with other musicians—from Nepal and India—in a celebration of music and the spirit of giving.
Feyago, winner of MTV Roots and India's Got Talent will be among the other artists performing. The singer is no stranger to Kathmandu has he has previously performed at Tamas, Capital Grill and 1905 Restaurant. Kathmandu was also one of the pit stops of his Gangtok-Kalimpong-Kathmandu-Kolkata tour.
Joining Feyago and Maize on stage will be Nepal's own Albatross and Joint Family Internationale. Both bands are amongst the most popular in the country; Albatross' Timi Bhane and Joint Family Internationale's recent hit Neta Jiu being two songs all of us love listening to.
For music lovers in the Capital, the Basantapur concert will be an opportunity to see great musicians perform live while getting together for a good cause. Those interested in attending, or contacting COMMITTED can visit www.cmiNepal.org.
