Doctor KC's health deteriorates further
The health condition of Doctor Govinda KC, who is on a hunger strike against the appointment of Dr Sashi Sharma as the Institute of Medicine (IoM) Dean, has deteriorated further. The doctors involved in KC's treatment said that his condition is 'critical'.
"He is alive just because of oxygen and saline," said professor doctor Subash Acharya.
"He doesn't speak much and his oxygen level in blood has decreased considerably," said Acharya," We have been continually testing his blood pressure and other tests."
KC, senior orthopedic doctor at the TUTH, has been on an indefinite strike demanding the government reinstate former dean Dr Prakash Sayami, stop giving affiliation to new medical colleges, end political interference at the IoM, take action against Tribhuvan University office bearers, and develop IoM into an independent university.
Most of the hospitals, both private and government, have remained shut across the country since yesterday after Nepal Medical Association called for the closure demanding immediate resignation of Dr Sharma and an end to political interference at the IoM.
