UCPN (M) decides not to join govt
The UCPN (Maoist) Central Office has decided not to join a new government at present, citing the primary attention of the party is on the constitution-drafting.Ekantipur Report
The meeting of the party's central office-bearers held today at party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence, Lazimpat decided to be fully focused on the constitution-making as per the commitments it made before the people in course of Constituent Assembly (CA) election. The party said the government formation is its second priority.
Talking to media persons following the meeting, party leader Posta Bahadur Bogati said the government formation is not a matter of priority of the party. "The UCPN (M) respects the people's verdict, the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) are free to constitute a government and the party will lend constructive support by staying in the opposition bench," said Bogati.
Similarly, the meeting discussed the party's special organisational general convention, moral improvement of party leadership and causes responsible for party's 'unexpected' defeat in the second CA.
Although the meeting dwelt on the matters of nominating party's Parliamentary Party leader, deputy leader, chief whip and whip in the context when the Legislature –Parliamentary session has already begun, it failed to reach to a decision.
Similarly, the party's central committee meeting scheduled for today has been put off until tomorrow. As per the party's statue, the decision of Central Office's not to be a part of a new government shall be approved by the CC meeting.
Party Chairman Dahal, leaders Dr Bauram Bhattarai, Narayankaji Shrestha and Bogati are at the central office bearers of the party. RSS
