UCPN (M) stakes claim over House speaker
Feb 2, 2014-
UCPN (Maoist) has staked claim over the post of House speaker. Stating that the party will stay in the opposition bench, UCPN (M)--the third largest party in the Constituent Assembly—demanded that the party should be given the post of House speaker while sharing power among the major parties.
"As we will stay in the opposition, we should be given the responsibility of speaker," said UCPN (M) leader Post Bahadur Bogati," Our claim over other constitutional bodies still remains."
He, however, added that the party is yet to hold formal consultations with Nepali Congress and CPN-UML over the matter.
Furthermore, the party is preparing to push leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara for the post if UCPN (M) were to get the post of speaker.
"Leader Mahara could be the one if our party would get speaker during power sharing," said party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma.
