PM voting begins
The voting process has begun at the Legislature Parliament session of the Constituent Assembly to elect the new prime minister on Monday.Ekantipur Report
Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala is a lone candidate in the PM election in the Parliament.
Meanwhile, a proposal has been tabled in the House for the voting.
Koirala will have to secure 286 votes out of the current 571 lawmakers. In 2011, there has been election for seventeen times in the House as the prime ministerial candidate failed to secure a majority votes.
Addressing the House while presenting his candidacy, Koirala assured to hold local body election within six months and promulgate new constitution within a year.
He also assured to finish the pending tasks of peace process, put an end to strikes, and strengthen relation with neighbouring countries and other nations. He also stressed on the need for unity and coordination among the political parties. He also thanked the CPN-UML for its crucial support in forming the new government.
Meanwhile, Rastriya Prajatantra Party -Nepal (RPP-N) has opted to stay in the opposition bench.
