“There is a strong need for the revolutionary parties to move together for change,” said Baidya, at a programme organised in the Capital to celebrate the 19th anniversary of the launch of the 'People's War'. The party celebrated the occasion amid programmes across the country.
The Maoists who took up arms on February 13, 1996 for what they called 'the change', have been celebrating the 'People's War Day' every year. Both the UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-Maoist have been celebrating the event though they joined mainstream politics after signing the peace deal in April, 2006.
In a statement on Thursday, the CPN-Maoist said it will celebrate the “historic occasion” by remembering the martyrs, the injured and the disappeared during the insurgency.
