Poudel decries prez's directive to govt

Speaking at the Legislature-Parliament on Friday, the UML secretary said it is against the spirit of democracy and constitution for a ceremonial president to issue self-willed directives just like the Kings of past used to give it to the government. He said the parliament should take notice of the president's act.
The UML leader opined that the new Constituent Assembly (CA) should have the right to elect a new president. On February 9, the UML and Nepali Congress (NC) had inked a seven-point deal in which the parties agreed to hold the election for the post president, vice president, and prime minister, paving the way for forming a new government under NC
President Ram Baran Yadav had issued a seven-point directive to newly elected Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, when he went to meet Yadav at his official residence in Sheetal Niwas, suggesting on constitution drafting and formation of consensus government.
