At least 9 killed in road accidents
At least nine people died and more than 40 were injured in two separate road accidents on Sunday.Seven pilgrims were killed when a jeep carrying them to a sacred Hindu temple skidded off the road and fell 200 meters at Thumki in Pelakot VDC-9 on Sunday morning. Seven others were injured in the incident. Assistant Sub-Inspector Yubraj Pandey said the jeep, taking 14 pilgrims to Akaladevi Temple, lost power while negotiating a steep uphill and met with the accident. All the passengers are from Tallo Gallyang at Jagatradevi VDC in Syangja.
The deceased have been identified as Gyanu Nepali, Man Bahadur Nepali, Sita Nepali, Shova Magar, Kamal Thapa, Kismaya Sarki and Suk Bahadur Saru. The injured are being treated in Lumbini Medical College and Palpa-based Mission Hospital.
Meanwhile, two Armed Police Force personnel were killed and 37 others injured when an APF truck met with an accident at Halesi bridge at Dulegauda in Tanahun.
The truck was en route to the APF Training Centre at Lamapatan in Pokhara from Manakamana Battalion in Tanahun when the accident occurred. APF constables Mahesh Shrestha and Keshab Rana died in the incident.
