Opposition parties, including the UCPN (Maoist) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal sought a clear answer from the government regarding the price hike and said that the session cannot go ahead until the government revoked the fuel price hike decision.
Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat informed the parliament that the price hike was a compulsary step to cut down the ballooning losses faced by the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation. Mahat also informed that the government would slash the price after doing necessary homeworks.
Oppositions parties UPCN (Maoist) and RPP-N, however, said the finance minster's clarification was not satisfactory and demanded the session be adjourned until the government furnishes a clear answer to the price hike.
