PM Koirala orders for early completion of road expansion drive
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has directed the concerned ministries and the subordinate bodies today to complete the road expansion in the Capital city as early as possible.Ekantipur Report
Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project Direction Committee and the high level officials concerning this were directed by the PM to establish good coordination among the related bodies and expedite the expansion drive.
"Road department constructs road and Telecom and the electricity authority dig it again creating mess. It must be carried out in coordination to complete the task on time," said the prime minister, drawing their attention to maintain quality in the work.
Also on the occasion, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Krishna Hari Baskota, said the National Vigilance Centre was urged to heed the work to find out if any substandard materials were used in the expansion and repair of the roads.
According to Secretary Baskota, the Maitighar-Tinkune and Lazimpat-Budhanilakantha sections of the Valley roads would be accomplished by April 13. And 91 kilometer road in total would be expanded and blacktopped by April 13, he added.
He added that the entire road expansion would be accomplished before the 18th SAARC Summit kicks off in Kathmandu. Nepal is hosting the summit in November later this year.
