A source said that people attending the ceremony from Sarki community were discriminated on the basis of caste.

Of the injured, 16-year-old Rajesh Sarki is said to be in serious condition after he sustained head injuries and is being treated at Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital. Police arrested 13 people in connection with the incident. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari said investigation into the case had been initiated.
Meanwhile, Chandra Bahadur’s relative Shanti BK ruled out that the incident occurred over a caste row, adding that the clash took place when a group of people attacked them without any reason.
