Organising a press conference in the Capital on Sunday, the committee informed that the campaign for collecting necessary blood money had been completed and that it was now starting diplomatic initiatives to save Rai's life.

Committee coordinator Narad Kumar Rai informed that the required blood money as set by the UAE court had already been collected and that diplomatic initiatives were being taken to bring Anish back home. "We have completed the collection of blood money as demanded by the court," said Rai, "Nepal government should immediately take initiatives for effective diplomacy and legal proceedings."

The committee members met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey and state minister for Labour Tek Raj Gurung and jointly urged them to take initiatives so as to bring Anish back home safe.

A lower court in Abu Dhabi in UAE has sentenced Rai, a Nepali migrant worker, to death for his involvement in the murder of a Pakistani national.

Rai, 23, of Matshyapokhari in Sankhusabha district, was handed death sentence on July 5, 2013. He was arrested and jailed since October 25, 2012 after a Pakistani national with whom he had a fight in a restaurant died later. He had gone to UAE to work as a domestic helper two years back.
