Hosts Nepal wrapped up the seventh South Asian Senior Judo Championships with a lone gold medal and third in the overall standings.
Sunita Bohara's gold in the women's above-78kg weight-group category was the only success for the home team as India finished team champions with 10 gold, one silver and a bronze medal. Pakistan ended up second with three gold, three silver and six bronze medals. The other two teams in the tournament — Afghanistan and Sri Lanka — failed to win a single gold medal. Afghanistan secured fourth position with three silver and four bronze medals while Sri Lanka won two silver and four bronze medals.
On the last day of the championships, held at the National Sports Council covered hall, Shah Husain of Pakistan struck gold in men's below-100kg weight group. Likewise, Awatar Singh of India beat Afujal Basir Mohammad of Pakistan in the below-90kg final and Ahamad Sehazad of Pakistan defeated Rajan Joshi of Nepal in the above-100kg title match.
In the women's category, Suchika Tarilal of India ended the challenge of Sushila Adhikari of Nepal in the below-57kg final and Anggom Anita Chanu of India claimed the below-52kg category gold medal. In the team event, India prevailed in both men's and women's event. Nepal came second in women's category followed by Pakistan in third.
