Fuel crisis is here to stay
The Valley denizens who have been reeling under the fuel shortage might have to deal with the crippling crisis for the next couple of days, Nepali Oil Corporation (NOC) said.Ekantipur Report
Kathmandu Valley has been experiencing shortage of fuel for the past two days due to short supply.
According to the Corporation data, about 350 kilo litre of petrol and 450 kilo litres of diesel is consumed daily in Kathmandu Valley. NOC Spokesperson Mukunda Ghimire informed that only 250 kilo litre of petrol is being exported for Kathmandu valley.
The Finance Ministry has proposed the Citizens Investment Fund and Nepal Provident Fund to provide loan to NOC to clear the due.
NOC owes Rs.5 billion to the IOC since February. Ghimire informed that the NOC is planning to pay Rs 2.5 billion with the loans provided by the two organisations.
"We have sent a letter to the IOC requesting them for smooth supply of fuel," said Ghimire, "It will take 3-4 days for the smooth distribution of fuel in Kathmandu even if IOC gives us the required fuel."
