Student organizations urge ANNISU-R to participate in FSU election
Student organizations protesting the Free Students Union (FSU) election date announced by TU have been urged to participate in the election forging consensus through dialogue.Eighteen student unions had, earlier, expressed their reservation on the Free Students Union (FSU) election slated for May 28.
Organizing a press meeting here today, the Nepal Students' Union (NSU), All Nepal National Free Students Union, ANNFSU (Sixth), Nepal Democratic Students Union, and Socialist Students Union, among others, have appealed to the ANNISU- R and other protesting student organizations to stop their anti-election activities and join the FSU election scheduled for May 28.
During the press meet, NSU leader and lawmaker, Ranjeet Karna said, "I humbly appeal to the student organizations protesting against the FSU election to join the election giving up anti-election activities."
Similarly, Kishor Bikram Malla, Chairman of ANNFSU, said protesting against the FSU election so as to make the entire student movement a failure was wrong and urged the student organizations arguing against the FSU election to join the May 28 election.
A joint press statement issued by the student organizations including the NSU and ANNFSU reads, "Denial to participate in the FSU election is a result of the defeated mentality. Padlocking the Campuses just to disturb the election is condemnable."
The Tribhuvan University (TU) has declared the FSU election date for May 28.
