Put into bat after loosing the toss at the Selamgor Turf Club, Nepal could muster only 157 runs losing all its wickets in the 45th over.
Gyanendra Malla, who scored 26 runs in 24 balls, was the top scorer for the Nepali team followed by Naresh Budayair (23) and Sagar Pun (20). The fourth highest score came in the form of extras at 19 runs.
Aamir Kaleem was instrumental in limiting Nepal to a paltry score with 4 wickets in 10 overs, and giving away just 36 runs. This also won him the man-of-the-match award. Ajay Lalcheta and Zeeshan Maqsood chipped in with 2 wickets a piece.
In reply, Nepali bowlers too bowled exceptionally well with Sompal Kami taking a wicket in the first ball of the first over. But it proved insufficient in defending the low total put up by the batsmen.
Nepal however dragged the match to the 48th over taking wickets and bowling maiden overs— 11 in total.
Spinner Shakti Gauchan was brilliant, giving away just 19 runs at the rate of 1.9 in his full quota of 10 overs, while claiming 2 wickets. Paras Khadka and Sompal Kami also took two wickets each while Sagar Pun and Basanta Regmi took one each.
For Oman, Zeeshan Maqsood top scored with 44 runs followed by the wicket-keeper batsman Sultan Ahmed who remained undefeated at 32 runs, steering his team past the Nepali total.
With the win, Oman has topped the points table with Nepal in the second position with two wins and one loss so far. With equal points as Nepal, Afghanistan stands in the third position with an inferior run rate than Nepal.
Nepal had won both its games before this match against the UAE and hosts Malaysia. Nepal will now play against Hong Kong tomorrow.
