Major parties inch closer on resuming House proceedings
Three major parties including major opposition UCPN (Maoist) on Saturday reached an agreement on budget transfer, formation of parliamentary committee to probe alleged vote rigging.Ekantipur Report
A meeting between the major three parties including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today also agreed in principle to constitute a High Level Political Committee (HLPC).
According to UML Secretary Bishnu Poudel, the parties have inched closer in resuming the Parliamentary affairs from Sunday. UCPN (M) has been obstructing the House proceedings since the past week demanding the implementation of the four-point agreement reached with them after the completion of second Constituent Assembly polls.
UCPN (M) has been claiming the leadership of HLPC saying that a ‘gentlemen’ agreement was reached among major parties earlier regarding the same. UML, however, is not in favour of forming a separate committee outside CA and has demanded that there should be first consensus on the jurisdiction of such committee.
