331 schools have nil SLC results
The School Leaving Certificate exam results this year have shown that no students passed from over three percent of the total 9,187 schools across the country.Ekantipur Report
A report published by the Office of the Controller of the Examinations on Sunday shows not a single student got through the test from 331 schools, including 50 private and institutional ones. It shows out of 6,045 public schools 281 schools had nil results, while 50 of the total 3,142 private and institutional schools failed to pass a single student.
The report shows the highest number of such schools is from Eastern Development Region. No student passed from 136 of the total 1,919 schools that participated in the SLC exam from the region. Similarly all the examinees from 56 of the 3,285 schools from Central Development Region failed the test. Of them five schools are from Kathmandu alone.
According to Examination Controller Bishnu Bahadur Dware, all of the 1,960 students from 25 schools in the Western Development Region failed the test.
In addition, 36 out of 1,095 schools in Mid-Western and 76 out of 928 in Far-Western regions too had the same fate. Going by the districts, Panchthar had the poorest result with 23 schools having nil results, followed Achham with 14 and Ilam 15.
Similarly, all students from 14 schools in Doti, 13 in Udayapur and 12 each in Morang and Bhojpur also had nil results.
A total of 84,421 students out of 299,477 from community and 89,021 among 95,456 from private and institutional schools who took the SLC examination got through the exams this year.
