Thapa, who is also the vice president of Asian Football Confederation (AFC), organised a press conference at the ANFA Complex in the Capital on Monday to clarify his position on the alleged charges of irregularities against him.
British media ‘The Sunday Times’ had on Sunday carried a report mentioning that Thapa had forged an agreement with Qatar Football Association worth $ 8, 00,000. ANFA President Thapa claimed that he took only $ 2, 00,000.
The British media had also revealed that Thapa had received £115,000 from Mohammed Bin Hammam's company Kemco on a personal level. Suspended Hammam is the former President of AFC. “That was not pound, but dollar,” said Thapa today,” That was purely personal.” He went on to say that he has been involved in business partnership with Hammam since 2008.
“Some people are making an issue for not getting desired positions. I myself wish for probe in the matter. If proven guilty, I am ready to be hanged,” Thapa said.
Thapa has been at the helm of ANFA for the past 19 years.
