PMO asks progress report of actions against fee-hiking schools
The Office of the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Education to release the detail of the progress made in taking action against those schools found hiking tuition fees illegally.The Department of Education had decided to take action against those schools which were found guilty of charging arbitrary fees on May 5.
The Department had formed a High Level Monitoring Committee to carry out an investigation over the alleged irregularities last month. Though the Department had decided to take action against the guilty schools but it has not been implemented till the day, it is learnt.
As per the complain registered at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the office held discussions with the stakeholders and authorities concerned today, and directed the Ministry to release the details of action take so far.
Secretary at the Office Shanta Raj Subedi directed the Ministry to furnish details of the progress achieved so far in this regard, said Suprabhat Bhandari, Chairman of Guardians' Association of Nepal.
A circular has been sent to the bodies concerned to initiate action against the guilty schools, said Dr Lava Dev Awasthi, Director General of the Department.
