The Patan Appellate Court on Tuesday quashed its earlier interim order which had stayed the promotion of seven Deputy Inspector Generals of Police to Additional Inspector Generals.Ekantipur Report
Responding to a petition filed by DIG Parshuram Khatri, a single bench of Judge Rameshwor Nath Amatya had issued the interim order on June 9.
A double bench of Justices Dwarika Man Joshi and Dambar Bahadur Sahi today quashed the earlier interim order, paving way for the promotion of DIGs. Six DIGs who were in line to be promoted to AIGs had appealed for the cancellation of the interim order. The court today passed the verdict responding to their appeal.
The government on May 27 had recommended the names for promotion to the posts lying vacant for seven months. A promotion committee chaired by Home Secretary Surya Prasad Silwal with Inspector General of Police Upendra Kanta Aryal as member secretary had picked seven DIGs from among 13 aspirants.
The committee had selected Rajendra Singh Bhandari, Surendra Shah, Bigyan Raj Sharma, Pratap Singh Thapa, Birendra Babu Shrestha, Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya and Kedar Saud. Khatri and five other DIGs have already lodged a complaint with the Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking a review of the recommendations.
