The voting for the election of new leadership at the ongoing conclave of UML had concluded at 3 am this morning. The vote counting would begin from the post of office-bearers, said former party secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel.
A total of 2,152 representatives cast their votes while 24 delegates remained absent in the voting process, leader Poudel added.
Though the vote counting was scheduled to begin at 3 pm today, it was deferred until tomorrow morning after agreement between both the panels.
Senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and parliamentary party leader KP Sharma Oli are in the race for the post of party chairman.
Similarly, both the panels have fielded candidates for all the 159 members in the central committee while 14 independent candidates are contesting in full and alternate members for the central committee.
It is to be noted that two different ballot papers for two separate panels had been used in the voting.
