650 houses waterlogged in Madi
As many as 650 houses at different villages of Madi have been waterlogged due to heavy rainfall, according to the District Disaster management Committee, Chitwan.The District Development Committee and Disaster Management Committee had carried out onsite visit of the affected area on Sunday morning.
A total of 300 houses at Gurdi VDC and Kalyanpur VDC each and 50 at Basantapur area, said DDC Disaster Management source person, Balram Luintel.
The flood has destroyed the paddy planted on 350 bighas of land at the three VDCs and destroyed 13 houses, said locals.
Flood on Chandre rivulet at Kalyanpur-4 has destroyed paddy planted on 64 bighas of land of 71 houses.
Similarly, a total of 163 houses at Laugain and Naya Pars and 17 houses at Bankatta and Chandrapur of Gardi have been inundated.
Likewise, flood on Magui stream has destroyed paddy planted on 150 bighas of land at Bairath, Laugain, Jeevanpur and Bhairabpur while Bankatta-based Reu rivulet has swept away around 12-meter road and damaged 260-meter gravel road.
It may be noted that, a 60-year-old Ishara BK died after she was swept away by the flood on Badarmudhe rivulet on Sunday.
