New budget attracts youth in agriculture sector : Minister Parajuli
The Ministry of Agriculture Development is to collect the statistics related to farmers and persons directly and indirectly involved in the agriculture sector.The ministry will prepare the statistics through its district based offices, ministry sources said. The statistics would help keep records of farmers to provide seeds, fertilizers and other subsidies to them, said Agriculture Minister Hari Prasad Parajuli.
Speaking at an interaction programme organized in the capital today, Minister Parajuli said Rs 10 million has been allocated for this purpose and different programmes would be brought to draw the youths in agriculture sectors.
A pesticide measurement machine has been now installed at Kalimati and it would be installed in different major cities out of valley in the days ahead with the objective of lessening excessive use of pesticide in vegetables and fruits.
The new budget will reach to the farms of every farmer as Rs 23 billion has been allocated to the agriculture sector in the budget for this fiscal year, Minister Parajuli added.
Speaking on a different note, Minister Parajuli, who is also the CPN-UML leader, said that the party has emerged stronger after completion of its 9th National Congress.
The incumbent government continues until the promulgation of a new constitution, Minister Parajuli added.
