CIAA seeks suspension of 10 health officials
CIAA has directed the Health Ministry to immediately suspend 10 high ranking officials including Director of Department of Health Services on the charge of financial irregularities..In a letter sent to the Ministry on Tuesday, the CIAA has directed the Ministry to suspend senior Public Health Administrative Officer Madan Kumar Shrestha, senior Public Health Officer Ratna Lal Shrestha, sections officers Dol Raj Sharma and Rup Narayan Khatiwada, accounts officer Yaduraj Sharma Nepal, Pharmacist Bharat Mani Marhattha, Public Health inspectors Ram Sharan Adhikari and Ramji Ghimire, and junior officer Kabiraj Subedi.
They have been charged of submitting fake receipts without actually implementing the proposed programme in the fiscal year 2068/69 and 2069/70.
The accused were found of presenting bill for a meeting hall in a hotel that did not have a hall, e-ticket of air service with double the actual fare and a bill showing that they had eaten for more than 12 times in a day.
Since there was the risk of tampering of evidence and obstruction to investigation, they have been directed to be suspended from service, the CIAA has said.
The CIAA is also reported to have been investigating complaints regarding irregularities in other units of the department.
Meanwhile, the CIAA today filed a case of corruption at the Special Court against a school principal, the school management committee chair and resource person on the charge of embezzling funds worth Rs. 2.7 million.
School principal Balmiki Prasad Yadav, school management committee chair Shyamiki Yadav and resource person Rambachan Prasad Yadav have been charged of committing the offense in the funds received for text book and scholarship for the school from fiscal year 2064/65 to 2070/71.
