A meeting including the leaders from UCPN (M), CPN-Maoist, Matrika Yadav-led Maoist party, Mani Thapa-led Revolutionary Communist Party and CPN-Unified led by Pari Thapa in the Capital on Tuesday made the decision to the effect.
The meeting which convened at CPN-Maoist headquarters in Buddhanagar concluded that the Indian proposal came with the intention to create monopoly on Nepal’s water, energy resources, urging the government to take call on the matter only after reaching national consensus.
The alliance further warned of protests if the government did not pay heed to their plea.
The Indian proposal on ‘Cooperation in Power Sector’ has already generated controversy as several Nepali media have criticised the proposal saying that it would warrant the Indian side's domination in Nepal's energy sector including generation and power trading.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has, however, refuted the media reports regarding its energy and power proposal claiming that India's proposal of cooperation in the hydro sector is not against Nepal's interests.
