Speaking at the meeting of the Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Monday, PM Koirala said the government was making sincere efforts to get the relief assistance to the real victims.
PM Koirala further said that it would be unacceptable if the genuine victims did not get the relief. Generous people from home and abroad have been voluntarily supporting the victims, so the relief should reach the real victims, he added.
"I have come to know that some mistakes have been seen in relief distribution and data collection. Middlemen are taking undue advantage in the name of victims and it should be ended soon. I instruct the Ministry of Home Affairs to look into the matter," said the PM.
The prime minister said that the government has honestly tried to make sure that the relief reaches the victims, adding that if any mistakes were found then it would be corrected.
He further said that the government is trying to manage the relief distribution and resettle the victims before the Dashain festival. Similarly, efforts are being made to create an environment so that the school-going children of the disaster victims could resume school, Koirala added.
Stating that the government has mobilised all concerned bodies to impart different services including health, education, drinking water, road, transport and communication, Prime Minister Koirala also assured of bringing the road obstructed due to the landslide at Jure in Sindhupalchowk district back into operation within a few days.
