Tarun Dal enforce shutdown in Pyuthan
Normal life has been crippled in Pyuthan district on Monday due to the general strike imposed by Nepali Congress (NC) youth wing Nepal Tarun Dal.Ekantipur Report
Vehicular movements have come to a halt due to the strike. The local leaders and cadres of Tarun Dal came out on the streets to enforce the strike at various parts of the district.
According to Pyuthan district chairman of Tarun Dal, Madhav Bhandari, a gang of youth allegedly attacked party member Sanat Kumar Shrestha, a resident of Bijuwar-6, with Khukuri. The assaulters invited Shrestha to a location expressing their desire to take the party membership and attacked him with Khukuri. The indefinite shutdown has been called to press for the arrest of the culprits involved in the crime, he added.
Tarun Dal has blamed CPN-UML-aligned Youth Association members led by Deepak Sapkota of Ramdi-1 for the attack. But Pyuthan chairman of Youth Association, Mohammad Halim, has denied the party’s involvement in the attack. He claimed that Sapkota is not even general member of the party.
Shrestha, who has sustained serious injuries in the attack, has been taken to Kathmandu for treatment. Pyuthan police informed that they have been searching for the culprits.
