Govt forms committee to probe Doti bus accident

The government on Tuesday formed a high-level probe committee to investigate Monday’s fatal bus accident in Doti district. Thirty people have been killed while forty others have been injured in yesterday’s passenger bus accident in Doti.

Tulasi Prasad Sitaula, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport, informed that the committee has been asked to submit a report, mentioning the possible reasons behind the accident and the necessary action needed to be taken against the officials including the police who do regular security check and the officials with the responsibility of carrying regular maintenance work of the highway.

The probe committee includes Rabindra Shrestha, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport, along with the representatives from Traffic Police Headquarter, Road Department, and Department of Transport Management. Shrestha is the coordinator of the committee.

The committee will submit a report, along with the suggestions to prevent such accidents in future, to the government within the 15 days.
