The Academy, which has been providing this facility in the past also, has made arrangements for observing the lunar eclipse today, NAST Promotion and Publicity Division Chief, Narendra Kumar Singh, said.
One can view the eclipse from the NAST premises with the help of telescope at 5.30 pm, he added.
Although the eclipse will take place at 2.59 pm it can be viewed from Nepal at 5.51 pm after moonrise. The eclipse will end at 6.19 pm, according to Prof Dr Ram Chandra Gautam, President of the Calendar Determination Committee.
Although Nepal will witness partial part of the eclipse, it is guaranteed to be a fulsome spectacle if you have a fairly decent starter telescope or a pair of binoculars. For even better view, one could visit Takshila Astronomy Club at Samakhusi.
The full moon which will pass directly through the earth’s dark shadow will be visible only after sunset from Nepal. The total part of the eclipse will last for about an hour, while the partial umbral eclipse could go up to an hour and 10 minutes.
