CAN appoints CEO, Finance Manager after 10 months
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Saturday appointed Chief Executive Officer and Finance Manager, ten months after the directives of International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket CEkantipur Report
A regular board meeting of CAN appointed Bhawana Ghimire as the CEO and Prakash Maharjhan as the Finance Manager today. According to Uttam Karmacharya, CAN’s acting General Secretary, both Ghimire and Maharjhan will assume their office from October 18.
CAN further informed that the two have been appointed for six months as per the initial agreement. CEO will draw Rs. 75,000 and Finance Manager Rs. 50,000 as their monthly remuneration.
CAN, the cricket governing body in Nepal, had conducted interview for the two major posts in the presence representatives from ICC couple of months ago.
Ten months back, the representatives from ICC and ACC had directed Yubaraj Lama, member secretary of National Sports Council, to appoint personnel at the twin posts. Raising the issue of non-appointment at the two posts, the ICC had warned CAN of action few months ago.
Meanwhile, CAN has also decided to open regional academy in eight other regions, giving continuity to the National Cricket Academy in Kathmandu.
