Jazz electrified

Oct 17, 2014-

A new music series, Reconceptions of Jazz, kicked off in Kathmandu yesterday.  The series seeks to offer locals and visitors in Kathmandu the opportunity to explore the different variants of jazz repackaged as electronic music. Most artists at the shows will combine the principles of jazz—such as improvisation and blues harmonies—with the classical electronic themes and soundscapes of electronic music.

Reconceptions hopes to provide a platform for local and international jazz musicians, DJs and electronic producers who want to pay tribute to the jazz heavyweights of the past. The shows will feature acts such as Another Universe, DJ BPM, Feedback, Riddim Radicals and Gianni Denitto, among others. They will play at venues such as Base Camp, Brian’s Grill House, Children’s Art Museum, Electric Pagoda, Funky Buddha and more. The series will go on till October 22, and admission to all shows is free.
