Bhattarai rules out constitution favouring any party
Chairman of CA's Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC) Baburam Bhattarai has remarked that the new constitution would not resemble exactly as desired by any political party.Ekantipur Report
He opined that leaders should focus on finding a common ground of agreement rather than reiterating their respective parties’ stances.
“I told the 31 political parties of Constitution Assembly (CA) that the last effort to draft the new constitution based on consensus has been initiated,” Bhattarai said.
Bhattarai arrived here in his hometown Gorkha on Monday as part of his commitment, made during the second CA election, that he would visit his hometown every month.
Speaking at an anniversary programme of a school, Bhattarai said that the new constitution should institutionalise changes the country has witnessed during recent period.
“The constitution being drafted now would be the seventh constitution of Nepal,” he said. “But the old constitution should not be restored in name of drafting the new constitution.”
He opined that the constitution drafted through consensus among all the political parties would only be long lasting.
