Art meets technology at Yantra
The Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN), Karkhana and Siddhartha Arts Foundation’s Education Initiative are jointly organising Yantra 3.0 starting from November 8.The seven-day-long festival will see visiting artists, scientists and technologists exhibiting their works and discussing various aspects of their respective fields. The organisers have stated that this year’s robotics competition will be “bigger and better”, along with added teams and contests and prizes worth $2,000 in total.
The festival will commence with the Art-Tech Exhibition at the Nepal Art Council (NAC), Babermahal. The gallery will showcase eight works created through collaboration between artists and technologists. All of them will emphasise on interaction between the artworks and the audience, and are based on ideas of identity, education, and our shared cultural heritage.
Also, a workshop on blending art and technology will run alongside the exhibition at the NAC from November 9-13. The workshop will cater school children between grades 6-8.
Similarly, a series of talk programmes will be held at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, on November 12. The speakers who are schedule to present during the show are Masakazu Takasu (TeamLab, Japan), Tom Igoe (Arduino/New York University, USA) and Jyoti Tandukar (IOE/Alternative Technologies, Nepal). The National Robotics Competition is scheduled for November 14 at the Army Sports Training Centre, Lagankhel. There will be 215 participants competing in three different games, namely, Bridge to Lanka, Yantra Racer and Yantra Akhanda.
