NSU convention postponed for 7th time
The general convention of Nepal Student Union, student wing of ruling Nepali Congress, has been postponed yet again citing inadequate preparation due to upcoming Saarc Summit.Ekantipur Report
A meeting of NC office bearers held at prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar decided to postpone the GC, slated for Nov 16-18.
This is the seventh time that the convention has been postponed. The NSU GC was last held eight years ago on 2006-07.
Earlier, the general convention of NSU had been postponed in the last hour owing to the dispute over the choice of representatives.
NSU Spokesperson UP Lamichhane informed that the conclave had to be postponed due to inadequate preparation as majority of the NC leaders are in the government and preparing for the Saarc summit.
Five NSU leaders have already filed their nomination for the post of Chairman, Jit Jung Basnet, Nain Shingh Mahar, Kundan Kafle, Manoj Mani Acharya and Kedar Karki have filed their nomination for the chairmanship. The candidates have established their contact office and have begun publicity campaigns.
