High-end smartphone lovers will be delighted to know that a slew of new smartphones have been lined up for launch this month. Sony, Microsoft and Huawei are all preparing to roll out their latest premium range phones.
The Sony Xperia Z3, the Nokia Lumia 830 and the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Honor 6 are among the top-end devices that have hit the international market, and they will be making their debut in the domestic market by the end of November, said local smartphone distributors.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7, which will cost around Rs 60,000 in the local market, is made of an aluminium alloy, and is light and sturdy. It is powered by an 8-core Huawei Kirin 925 processor. The phone comes with a 6-inch FHD display and features Android 4.4 operating system, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front facing camera. The handset is equipped with a 4,100 mAH battery.
Roshan Neupane, marketing head at Call Mobility the authorised distributor of Huawei in Nepal, said the phone would arrive in the domestic market by the end of this month.
Another phone from Huawei, the Honor 6 comes with 3 GB RAM. Neupane said that its RAM was the strong point for its price range. According to Neupane, the phone will cost approximately Rs 38,000. It is powered by 1.3 GHz Kirin 920 octa-core chipset and runs on Android 4.4 operating system. It sports a 13 MP rear camera along with a 5 MP front facing camera. The Honor 6 is powered by a 3,100 mAh battery.
Microsoft’s authorised distributor Neoteric Nepal is hoping to increase its market share with the launch of its latest flagship phone Lumia 830. The phone runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8.
“As the phone comes with a complete Windows Office package, it will surely benefit corporate users,” said Yogesh Roy, national sales head at Neoteric. It has a 5-inch display and is powered by Snapdragon 400 Quad core 1.2 GHz. The phone features 1 GB RAM, 10 MP rear and 0.9 MP front facing camera. According to Roy, it will cost around Rs 45,600 in the domestic market.
Nepa Hima Trade Link, the authorised distributor of Sony in Nepal, is all set to unveil its latest flagship phone the Xperia Z3 this week.
Binil Bajracharya, general manager of Nepa Hima, said that it would cost around Rs 75,000 in the domestic market. The smartphone is scratch resistant and water and dust proof. It comes with a 5.1-inch full HD display.
The hardware side includes a 2.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 graphics, 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. The phone has a 20.7 MP camera with 4 K video recording support. It runs on the latest Android 4.4 and can be upgraded to Lollipop OS.
