New era of cooperation: Indian FM
External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj said on Wednesday that India has now entered a new era of cooperation with Nepal.Nearly two decades after signing the Mahakali Treaty with Nepal, we have finally constituted the Pancheshwar Development Authority for the 5600 MW Pancheshwar Project, she said while making a suo motu statement at the Indian Lok Sabha.
In addition, we now have a new Power Trade Agreement with Nepal; two Indian companies have received project licenses for two hydropower projects for 900 MW each; and we have signed the Motor Vehicles Agreement, the Indian minister said.
Swaraj also highlighted India’s determination to see an integrated South Asia. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and initiatives for the region has sparked a new wave of optimism in our South Asian partners.”
“The Indian government led by Modi is seen as a positive development.”
