During the meeting, CPN-UML proposed to Madhesi Morcha on forming a national consensus government and issuing a new constitution on the slated time by forming a federal commission so as to settle the issue of federalism later. Madhesi Morcha, however, rejected the proposal floated by UML regarding the formation of federal commission and joining the incumbent government.
This is the third time that CPN-UML has approached Madhesi Morcha to convince them on formation of national consensus government. “They [CPN-UML] have again raised the issue of inducting us into the government but we have told them not to bring such talks again,” said Sadhbhawana Party’s Chairman Rajendra Mahato. “We are firm on Morcha’s decision to not participate in the government unless the constitution is drafted.”
Similarly, the Morcha has clarified that the 7-state federal model floated by the UML is not acceptable to them at any cost.
