A high school student from Gamhariya in Parsa who had visited the District Agriculture Development Office (DADO) for information about budget allocation has reportedly been arrestedBhushan Yadav
Laxman Sarraf, a Plus Two student, said that he had gone to DADO on Friday with an application addressed to its information officer to seek information about last fiscal year’s budget allocation of the Office.
“I went to DADO Chief Dinesh Ray Yadav to get his approval for my application in order to have it registered after failing to find the information officer,” he said, adding that Yadav could not approve the application as it was addressed to the information officer. Sarraf said that thereafter Yadav asked him to wait outside for a while. “But shortly after, a police team took me into custody,” he recounted, adding that he was also taken to the Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital to ascertain whether he was drunk or not.
Sarraf was released at noon the following day in the presence of his parents with the strongly-worded warning that he was not to reveal the matter to anyone. However, Sarraf said that he revealed the matter to media as he felt unjustly treated.
DSP Yadav Bahadur Gharti said that Sarraf was arrested after DADO officials lodged a complaint against him, saying that he along with his friends hurled verbal abuses at them in the office. However, DADO chief Yadav was not available for comment despite repeated efforts.
