MBBS question leak: Entrance prep centre owner held
The CIAA on Friday arrested Nabin Sharma, the operator of the Name Institute for Medical Education Pvt Ltd, for his alleged involvement in leaking MBBS entrance question papers.Sharma was taken into custody based on the statements of those individuals who were arrested earlier on the same charge. “His involvement was corroborated by the investigation, as well as the call details that revealed frequent conversations among the suspects,” said Bhawani Subedi, an aide to CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki.
CIAA sources said eight operators of various colleges and entrance preparation centers in the Capital are being investigated based on the call details of
Devi Ram Pandey and Prabhat Kumar Kushwaha, the alleged mastermind behind the MBBS question paper leak that was revealed a week ago.
The CIAA team had recovered Rs 100,000 cash and a cheque for Rs 4.5 million from Kushwaha’s Nakhipot-based residence on Sunday. According to the preliminary investigation, Kushwaha had raised Rs 1 million each from at least six aspiring medical students promising them question papers for the entrance test.
Sources said the CIAA’s major priority is to investigate the involvement of officials at the Ministry of Education. The anti-graft body has already arrested seven people, including two students, for their alleged involvement in the case. It has also raided two entrance preparation centres and the residences of their owners.
