Various students unions on Thursday submitted a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala demanding reduction in the prices of petroleum products.Ekantipur Report
The students union called on the government and Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to adjust the prices of kerosene, petrol and cooking gas and cut down the public transport fare, bearing in mind a significant fall in the prices of petroleum product in global market.
In the three-point memorandum, the students also demanded a probe into the alleged abscondment of those accused in gang-rape of Puja Bohora rape and bring the guilty to justice.
Likewise, the student unions have drawn the attention of PM Koirala towards drafting the new constitution within the slated time.
Receiving the memorandum at his official residence in Baluwater, PM Koirala underscored the need to make a few important decisions within next two-three days in order to draft the constitution on time. He further said that the concerned ministry has already been directed to adjust the price of petroleum products and a probe is underway regarding Puja Bohora’s case.
PM Koirala advised the representatives of the student unions to adopt creative measures to pile pressure on the government instead of resorting to streets.
